1966 LAMBORGHINI 400GT 2+2
Chassis #1009
Engine #0992
Touring #
This 400GT 2+2 was photographed at its first outing after a 20 year restoration, at a charity display in Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia. It is parked next to another Italian thoroughbred, albeit with a British 12 cylinder engine (Rolls-Royce Merlin, they ran out of FIAT-built DB601's after the war), a 1950 Fiat G59-4B s/n53278.
The Lamborghini was purchased in 1978 by John Chippindall while working in Papua New Fuinea. After driving it for a few years, he started fixing a few minor problems. Since he likes to do things himself it has taken some twenty years to get the car back on the road. A lot remains to be done but at least he can take it out and enjoy the magic of an early Lamborghini.
"Remarkably un-ergonomic campared to a modern car, but a lot more fun if you can find everything." - Jon Chippindall
