1979 LAMBORGHINI Countach LP400S
Chassis #1121112
Engine #
Prod. #56
Completed on Nov 15, 1979 to S.E.A Automobili di Roma, Italy.
This is the famous Cannonball Run Countach, driven by Adrienne Barbeau and Tara Buckman in the original 1981 movie. The car was purchased right off the movie set by Ron Rice, founder of Hawaiian Tropic in Florida, USA. Ron was good friends with Cannonball Run producer Hal Needham and star Burt Reynolds. The car was also seen briefly in the film "Smokey and the Bandit 3."
Ron continued to own the car for the next 28 years. During that time, it covered only 24,606 km (approximately 15,000 miles) since new. At some point Ron changed the interior color from the original tan to bordeaux, but all of the other unique features that appeared in the movie, including the front wing, rear bumper, 12 exhaust tips, and even the CB antennas, remained intact. #1121112 also retains the original rear bumper and the front mounted wing that was designed to get around American import laws requiring a minimum front bumper hight.
Feb 6-8, 2009 - Offered at auction in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, USA by RM Auctions but did not attain its reserve price.
March 7, 2009 - Sold to its new owner in Celebration, Florida, USA where #1121112 will share a garage with the "Dumb and Dumber" Diablo #PLA12820 (see bottom 2 photos). Currently undergoing restoration #1121112 will be brought back to exactly the way it appeared on the film, including the proper tan interior. More information, and detailed photos of the restoration work, can be found at www.cannonballcountach.com.
