Malcom Forbes 1991 Diablo 2wd
Chassis #12231
Engine #

Before his death, adventurer, automobile connoisseur, master capitalist and publishing magnate Malcom Forbes (Forbes magazine) was the Grand Marshall for the World Introduction of the Diablo in Monte Carlo in January 1990. At this time he placed his order for this custom built Lamborghini Diablo. He had the factory paint it the color he painted all of his automobiles, boats and homes - the color of money - GREEN and GOLD! In this instance it appears to be closer to "Verde Gonna Mica" and Champaign, both factory colors, not like that of his '87 CountachLP5000S which is a Dark Green Metallic with Gold leather interior.

Unfortunately Malcom Forbes passed away in February 1990 and never did take delivery of #12231.

#12231 was in storage in Hawaii for some time before being brought to the mainland USA and being purchased by an enthusiast. It has been meticulously maintained in mint condition inside and out, and has also been well documented. At the end of February 2000 this car appeared at auction on ebay but was not sold as the reserve bid had not been attained. It was auctioned again and now lives in Arlington, Virginia.

This identification plate is mounted on the transmission tunel just behind the shift lever and can be quite visibly seen in the photo above.

Another interesting detail in this special car are the "Forbes" embroidered floor mats.

Notice too, the detailing in the engine compartment. The fuel injection cover, Lamborghini script on the valve covers and injectors themselves were also finished in "Verde Gonna Mica" to match the body.

In July 2002 the car was in Alexandria, VA, USA.
