1997-98 Diablo GT1 (Only 2 built)
The Lamborghini GT1 project was carried on under Lamborghini contract in collaboration with SAT - Signes Advanced Technology of Toulon, France, a company experienced with everything concerning racing and exceptional cars - study, manufacturing, restoring, modifications, etc. Lamborghini was in charge of engine assembling and the homologation of the car.
SAT began the study in October 1996, having studied all the concepts: aerodynamic, suspensions, oil system, cooling circuit, brakes . . .
SAT rienforced and modified the chassis frame and manufactured suspension parts, bodywork moulds and parts in carbonfibre.
Only 2 cars were built. The first was chassis #VLA12001 is still racing in Japan placing 3rd at Suzuka in August 2000. The second car was chassis #WLA12000 which is on display at the SAT factory as collector car.
The check-down was in April 1997 and the car was homologated by Italian Ministery of Transport and by the Federation International of Automobile in 1998.
The project finally stopped because of trouble at Lamborghini Automobili before being bought out by Audi.
