1997 Diablo Roadster R

The Roadster R was purpose built in 1997 to take part a new American Diablo Racing Series. Each handcrafted car received a special treatment from the beginning of their assembly:

  • Full roll cage with chassis stiffness equal to the SV-R Coupe.
  • Strengthening of 14 points of the chassis
  • General lightening at the assemhly stage
  • Pricing suspensions
  • Brembo racing brakes, four pistons calipers
  • 18 inch OZ rims
  • Central nut wheel hub
  • Engine cover with additional air intakes
  • Carbon rear extractor
  • Front lights replaced by NACA air intakes
  • Carbon rear wing
  • Quick Refuelling devices.
  • Lateral side skirts
  • Safety equipment
  • Shorter gear ratios
  • Electronic control adapted to the racing exhausts
  • Engine allowing a maximum power of 540 HP
  • Air jack lifting system
  • Plexiglass side windows
  • Racing seats and particulars
  • Front baffles designed in the wind tunnel for better ground effect and brake cooling.
After two racing seasons, the owners had the opportunity to have his car converted for Road use with European or American Standards, or to adapt it to enter National (IMSA) or international GT Championships.

The plan was to built as many as 36 for the racing series. Only 1 was ever built.
