Welcome to the New Improved ILR
Background
Since its humble beginning on June 4, 1999 the International Lamborghini Registry has been funded and operated strictly as a part-time hobby by its founding enthusiast owner/operator. Every effort had been made to provide a level of service and informative content that would meet the needs of its visitors. However, the increased usage of the site by enthusiasts worldwide has eventually been found to put ever greater demands on the limited schedule and finances of too few.
The Decision
It has therefore been decided that the time had come to step up the level of commitment of those carrying the majority of the workload while spreading out the financial burden for its operation more fairly and evenly among the many users and dealers who have made great use of and even benefitted financially from their use of the ILR website. The past few months have provided opportunity to reformat the ILR website the better meet these needs.
The Benefits
The new ILR website has taken on a new look and structure to make navigation quicker and easier to find the pages visitors most often want to view. It has also allowed for a new Member's Area that will introduce some new features that have been in the works for some time and until now have proved difficult to implement. We are sure you will find these new features useful.
The decision to implement the new 'pay for membership' format has not been an easy one. As already mentioned it had become necessary in order to relieve the financial burden put on a very few. It is our hope that the modest fee for membership will allow for the hiring of additional full-time staff to assist with the present workload and to catch up on the now excessive backlog of information and photos of new cars waiting to be added to the ILR website.
The new format has also allowed the possibility for the ILR to help promote Lamborghini related businesses, products and events through various advertising options now available on all pages on our website. Feel free to enquire of these using the 'Contact Us' link found at the bottom of this page.
In the last few years various 'chat rooms' and 'forums' have increased in popularity on the internet. While not wishing to further thin out the numbers of users of such by introducing yet another Lamborghini themed forum, it has been our decision to add a forum to the ILR website in order to promote Lamborghini discussions closer to home and better unite the community of ILR visitors and contributors.
The Commitment
The ILR realizes that there are Lamborghini enthusiasts and others wishing to learn more about the marque while not committing at an early stage to obtaining a membership. Therefore it has been decided that portions of the ILR website will remain available to visitors wishing to gain a basic knowledge of the marque and its products.
The ILR is committed to improving the quality and quantity of content available on the ILR website. The ILR is also committed to protecting the privacy of Lamborghini owners and enthusiasts and will continue to make changes necessary to secure its information and reduce the incidents of spamming and defrauding of its members, a task not easily achieved as a free site.
