1988 LAMBORGHINI LM002 Paris-Dakar Rally

This LM002 was specially built for four times World Champion rally driver and Lamborghini PR man Sandro Munari to take on the 8,00 mile 1988 Paris-Dakar Rally. Unfortunately, funding ran out for the project and this vehicle did not start the race. One wonders how it would have placed if it had started since these LMs were built for desert life.

The interior of this LM was stripped of all unnecessary weight by removing all luxury appointments. A full roll cage was then added for safety as were competition style bucket seats and harnesses.

A 600hp competition engine was installed for the race but this has been replaced by a relatively stock V-12. The exhaust is practically open giving a roar that will scare any competition out of its path. The suspension was also modified to be able to sustain the continued pounding forces of Rally competition.

Looks like fun.
