1966 Miura P400
Chassis #0706
Engine #1016
Production # 3
Date 26 April 67
Miura Prototype #3 was completed to final production specifications in 1966 though it was not offered for sale to the public. The wheelbase of this car had 1.4 inches added to bring it to 98.4 inches on this and subsequent models. This car was also the first to have the direction of its engine reversed to turn counterclockwise when viewed from the front of the engine on the driver's side of the car. It is very hard to see that this car (like the first two protos) has it's roof 10 mm lower than the production Miuras, that the windscreen pillars are thinner and that the rear wings are supposed to be less flared. In any case, it is a very unique Miura! This pre-production model P400 is the only surviving Miura prototype!
0706 has an interesting feature (also on 0862), a trap door on the roof, which is a sliding panel operated from the inside, to let the air out of the cockpit.
The car while having plates from Maryland, USA is owned the by hotelier Bill Marriott (Marriott Hotels) from Washington D.C. It was purchased by Mr. Marriott in 1967!
2006 - ownership transferred to Marriott Hotels Heir Johnny Marriott. Car being driven frequently.
