EX-BARCELONA MOTOR SHOW 1967 MIURA P400
Chassis #0961
Engine #469
Production # 4
Date 7 April 1967
By Joe Sackey
The fourth Miura built was a pre-production P400 based on the three prototypes preceding it, but featuring the specification that would become standard for P400 production. 0961 was unique in that Bertone dispensed with the roof-mounted 'ventilation-hatch' air-flow arrangement that was featured on 0706 & 0862, replacing it instead with a series of vents on either side of the trailing edge of the car's roof, as was to become standard for all production P400. A sliding panel inside the car was used to allow air to be extracted. Furthermore, on 0961, the roof line was raised by 10mm over the previous prototypes, and the seat mounting position lowered by 10mm, thus giving 20mm of extra headroom. As with all three prototypes before it, 0961 did not yet feature the small circular turn-signal lights in the front fenders which would become standard for all production P400 thereafter.
Completed on April the 7th 1967, it had engine no. 0469 installed in it it and it was finished by Bertone in 'Argento Indian' (Silver) with a Black vinyl interior.
2 weeks later, on the 20th of April 1967 it was shown at the Barcelona Moto Show, as these exclusive previously unpublished images show.
In June of 1967, the car was delivered to one Don Edoardo Miura Fernandez at his ranch in Seville, by none other than Ferruccio Lamborghini himself as the accompanying picture shows. The car can be seen in the background between the two men, still without the front fender turn-signal lights.
