1968 Miura P400
Chassis #3640
Engine #2145
Prod. #222
16 July 1968
1968 - 1989: Built in 1968 in Green/Black and delivered through the Grand Garage des Nations, Switzerland, to its first owner, Sheikh Ahmed S.S. Al Sabah, a member of the royal family of Kuwait. He used the car sparingly, covering just 11,000km between 1968 and November 1981, when it was flown to the Lamborghini factory for a comprehensive service and check-up. The car was flown back to Kuwait in 1982 and remained the property of the Sheikh until 1989 by which time it had covered a mere 19,100km.
1989: The new owner kept the car in Kuwait for 4 months before having it air freighted to Heathrow where it was collected by Portman Lamborghini, sole UK Lamborghini agents. The car then went through a total and complete service, at a cost of over £5,000. All perishable components were replaced, and all other items were thoroughly tested. Portmans service manager described the car as one of the best ever to pass through their workshops, and confirmed it to be totally original, and complete in all respects. Registered KRX 297 H in London, GB .
March 1994: Sold by Coys to a European collector, the car had still only covered a mere 28,000 km and had been maintained extremely well, most recently the car has been looked over by specialists, in France. Car registered in France.
For sale again via Coys with 29,000 km as of Feb 2005. Chassis number 3640 thus represents an excellent and original, unspoilt example of the most exotic of supercars. With its documented history, low mileage and beautifully preserved condition, it will make an exciting and important addition to any collection.
