1969 MIURA
Chassis #3745/4856
Engine #?
Prod. #266
12 April 1969
Yellow Fly/Black.
A P400 converted by the factory in early 1973, not on the production line, with a late production number.
Reported restored in the 1990's at great time & expense by a French specialist of repute. Final result was less than inspiring, with poor to average workmanship shown.
Sold at auction in 1998. Correspondence (unsigned, via telex) from ex-factory sales manager as offered by auctioneers proved to be incorrect, and, thus the car has been widely misrepresented as a "prototype" SV (usually the convenient explanation for a P400 or late S converted into an SV) when sold twice by BONHAMS. Remanufacture date does not coincide with BONHAMS claimed New York Show car status either, and the former New York-based Lamborghini concessionaire states that the last New York Auto Show Miura SV was the black USA-spec SV, 5024 (which he sold directly off the show stand and still belongs to John Temerian in Florida to this day).
A 'storied' car, to say the least. Last reported sold at auction in Monte Carlo by BONHAMS, where, interestingly (but not surprisingly) it only brought Miura S money.
