P400 Miura S (338 Made Dec 1968-March 1971)

In November 1968 the first Miura S was produced and made it's appearance at the 50th Turin Motorshow in 1968. The P400S benefited from several improvements over the P400. Notable amoung these were a reshaping of combustion chambers, four weber 40IDL-3L carburators, higher lift cams and improved breathing giving an increase of 20bhp for 370bhp at 7700rpm and an increased torque figure of 286 lbsft at 5500rpm.

A new rerouted exhaust system allowed for a modest increase in luggage room at the rear. Higher quality materials were used to finish the vinyl and carpeted interior. Other interior improvements was the addition of power windows and optional air conditioning was also available for an extra $800. The overhead console benefitted from rocker switches to replace to old toggles. A locking glove box was a nice addition as was the new leather wrapped steering wheel that replaced the older wooden ones. A larger factory installed radio was also made available as an option.

Vented disc brake rotors were an interim improvement that markedly reduced fade under hard use.

140 of the Miura P400S were produced.
