This historic image shows 4812 at the AUTOCAR Sports Car Test Day at Silverstone in 1975 during a test for Thoroughbred & Classic Car's December 1975 article. The rather stocky driver of this original RHD car is one of the staff writers who were loaned the car over the weekend for the article.
Just a few weeks later 4812 was "a crumpled wreck in the corner of a breakers yard" after the owner, Ronald Stern, had totalled it into a brick wall! "A lead had dropped off its terminal and fallen into the throttle linkage, jamming the throttle three-quarters open, just when the driver wanted to slow down....we were not really surprised to learn that the car had done its best to wipe all traces of a brick wall from its foundations. The front offside suspension was torn off, the floor pan buckled, and even the roof was creased in the impact".
The car was rescued & restored by the works in the early 80s and repainted in the rather common livery of red with gold sills/wheels. After changing hands in England a multitude of times over the last 30 years, it is now owned by a London-based Miura enthusiast of repute.
May 2006 - Now with new owner Graham Robertson in England. Maserati specification rear lights, non-original items for an SV.
