1972 MIURA SV
Chassis #4968
Engine #30671
Prod. #670
18 Oct 1971
October 18th 1971 - Completed by the works as a split sump SV with engine no 30671. "Rosso Miura" paint with black leather interior, gold sills and wheels. Autovox radio, twin Sebring mirrors. Supplied to Rome concessionaire, SEA Automobili.
1974 - 4968 was imported into the USA in 1974 and was first owned by a Philadelphia-based professor of psychology for 22 years.
1996 - It then passed on in succession to a New York based Miura enthusiast.
1999 - It sold to a Toronto, Ontario, Canada based Miura enthusiast.
2004 - Sold to the current Miura enthusiast owner in May of 2004.
4968 is completely original in every way, including its original "Miura Rosso" paint and black leather interior. With just 12,000 miles on the clock, its well-maintained engine has never been removed from the car's chassis. A compression check on the car's engine showed between 180 and 195 on all 12 cylinders, and a post-service California road test proved that 4968 has a superb engine and gearbox, all much to the delight of its new owner. All its original equipment including original Pirellli CN12 tires, rubber spare-tire straps, rubber battery cover, tools, etc., are with the car. It even still has the factory's running-in ('In Roddaggio') sticker in the windscreen, and the original Autovox radio still works! It would likely be impossible to duplicate this SV anywhere and it is beleived to be the lowest-mileage original unmolested example extant. The car will be featured in an upcoming issue of OCTANE magazine.
July 2004 - ORIGINAL MIURA SV FINDS NEW HOME AS VALUES HIT ALL-TIME HIGH
A perfectly original Miura SV has found a new home this past month with a major Louisiana based Ferrari collector of note. What makes this event interesting is that the price paid equates to almost $300,000, one of 3 Miura SVs to sell at this number recently. Miura SV 4968 is thought to be one of just a handful of truly original SVs that remain in existence and its new owner considers this benchmark deal to be good value. However, the car is not stored away in a warehouse, but rather is driven as often as possible (several times weekly) when the owner is not driving his 1962 Le Mans winning Ferrari 330 TRI/LM on the street!
Miura SV values languished at just over $100,000 a mere 5 years ago. However, it is worth noting that today 2 cars are for sale in Europe asking what equates to $350,000 each. In Japan, a pair of late example SVs has changed hands for $325,000 and $375,000 respectively. Finally, these special Lamborghinis are getting the recognition and value that has overlooked them for years.
September 1, 2004 - 4968 sold again for a confirmed $365k to a new Houston, Texas-based owner.
December 2004 - Full restoration started at Bobileff Motorcar Co.
November 2005 - Car stripped and restoration progressing. Completion estimated for February 2006 with the new color chosen by the owner to be "Blu Ischia", the same light metallic blue as used on the 1968 Brussels Salon Bertone Miura Spyder.
August 14th 2006 - Restoration now completed. Silver paint (Argento) with Naturale leather interior. Absolutely stunning! Will be returning to Energy Investment Banker John Sinder's Houston-based collection after being shown at Concorso Italiano and Palos Verdes in California.
September 15th 2006 - SOLD for $675,000, current Miura world record.
