1972 MIURA SV
Chassis #5012
Engine #30708
Prod. #708
29 Mar 1972
This late model, split sump Lamborghini Miura SV was supplied new to dealer Hollebecq in Belgium in March 1972, finished in Rosso Corsa with blue leather/ cloth upholstery and optional air-conditioning fitted.
The car was later sold to Frenchman Alain Aouizerat (also owner of a Miura SVJ), in whose ownership it was French registered.
By the early 1980s, arch Miura-enthusiast Sheikh Al Thani of Qatar had acquired chassis 5012.
In 1982 a detailed restoration was undertaken by the Lamborghini factory for which invoices are available.
Immediately upon completion of the restoration, the immaculate SV was sold via Swiss intermediary Philippe Fournier to the current Swiss owner, who has looked after it for nearly two decades.
The car runs well and has recently passed the demanding Swiss roadworthiness test. Although showing some signs of age, the paintwork is still very presentable, as is the original leather/ cloth upholstery. The odometer reads 42,974Km (almost certainly genuine) and the general state of preservation is good, with details such as the factory In Rodaggio sticker still on the windscreen, the battery bracket and the spare wheel straps still in place and the emergency window winder still in the glove box. The car is Swiss registered and comes with its old French Carte Grise and other sundry documentation.
Sept 2004 - in Switzerland for sale advertised with these images.
Nov 2004 - Still in Switzerland, now with new owner.
April 16th 2006 - Seen in Portland Connecticut with new USA owner. English license plate "KGV130K" still attached. Obviously sold to an English owner since its Swiss sale. Now Imported to the USA. Reported sale price (not confirmed) $400k. Spinners now polished, red paint, blue leather with cloth inserts. Rear reverse lights in unusual amber color. Foglights behind front bumper grille.
May 10th 2006 - Confirmed that 5012 will be auctioned by Christies International Motorcars at their August 2006 Pebble Beach auction.
August 20, 2006 - Miura SV 5012 was sold this past weekend at the Christies Auction for $475,000 (this number includes fees) to a lucky enthusiast. Lucky indeed, as more and more SVs seem to have found homes in the past few years in permanent or long-term collections. The car represented an average condition SV, but prospective buyers were cautious following Gary Bobileff's revelation that the combination of the leading cross-member of the chassis installed back-to-front and the front hood sans a production number and were clear indication of a front-end accident at one time. At least one well-known Ferrari collector withdrew from bidding as a result. Nevertheless, this SV looked especially handsome in its classic livery, having been repainted in England for its former owner (who also still owns the Ex-Shah's Jota-modified SV). The sale price represented the lower end of the market, a USA-spec SV having changed hands in a well-documented sale a month ago for $610,000. Other recent SV sales have another changing hands privately in the USA for $550,000, and a total restoration project having been delivered to a Japanese buyer by a French broker for $475,000 before fees and taxes.
