1972 MIURA SV
Chassis #5078
Engine #30745
Prod. #748
14 Sept 1972
Sold new in Fly Yellow/Black to an 18-year-old Saudi Prince who took delivery of the car in Beirut from Lebanese concessionaire, Ageco.
Driven a few times until the rear bonnet flipped open at speed "while going over a railway crossing", as recalled by the Prince himself. Some rear panel damage including lights and badges. 5076 was stored in the Prince's Abu Dhabi Royal compound after the Prince lost interest upon viewing pictures of the new Lamborghini Countach (not an unusual turn of events in that era!).
Sold to a California-based investor in early 2004 after 4 years of negotiations, export procedures, etc. Imported to California via Long Beach in September 2004 having had just one previous owner and showing only 2,500 miles. A running car, totally original and untouched, 5076 is stored in Rancho Santa Fe, California, and is a real 'diamond-in-the-rough', given its pure provenance. This SV represents a mouthwatering restoration prospect as it is completely original, has very low miles and comes with all its original equipment, trim, fixtures, fittings, etc. The car even still has its original Pirelli CN12 tires mounted!! For Sale at $265k. Bobileff Motorcar Company is poised to perform the ultimate restoration on this car, having given it a detailed evaluation inspection. An enthusiastic, patient (& very wealthy) owner is all that "5076" now requires...
For years, this chassis number (5076) was wrongly thought to be the yellow SV owned by "a certain Joe (Nastasi)" - as a perpetually erroneous source reports.
The matter was resolved and put to rest in September '04 by Miura historian/owner Joe Sackey, when he placed a simple telephone call to Joe Nastasi. Nastasi confirmed that the chassis number of his own SV (which he has owned since 1974 and still owns as of 2004) is in fact 5042, and not 5076. This also corroborates the provenance of 5076 as offered by the connections of the car, who state that the car was only ever previously owned by the Saudi Prince, and never left Saudi Arabia till 2004.
Feb 17 2005 - SOLD to a multiple Miura SV owner to be TOTALLY restored by Miura restoration maven Gary Bobileff to its very original specification and livery. Will be the lowest-mileage Miura SV fully restored in existence.
November 2005 - Car stripped and dismantled for restoration. Completion date estimated for late 2006 and owner is not in a hurry as he also owns the Bobileff-restored 4926.
December 2006 - Restoration scheduled for completion in early 2007.
