A Factory Restoration Centre by Lamborghini

Since the start of production, in 1964, a few more that 8,000 Lamborghinis have been produced in the factory at Sant'Agata Bolognese. Some of them have gone astray but about 7,000 have survived and are in the hands of enthusiasts or in private or public collections. A Miura, a Lamborghini masterpiece designed by Bertone in 1966, is at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. This is proof of the importance of the supercars produced at the House of the Bull in terms of design and technical achievement.

Such a heritage deserves the best efforts to preserve Lamborghinis in the best possible condition, irrespective of their age. Unfortunately today it is becoming increasingly difficult to find workshops which have the competence, the expertise and the true passion to service and restore vinage cars. This is dues to the trend in the car industry where the service of cars is mainly replacing parts, instead of repairing the worn-out components. Therefore the workers often lose the workmanship needed for restoration.

At the Lamborghini factory they are well aware of such a problem and have decided to open a restoration centre to take care of the vintage Lamborghinis in the best possible way. The owners of Lamborghinis will have the possibility to bring their supercar to its birthplace where extremely qualified workers, often the same that built the car, maybe 20 years ago, will be proud to revamp those masterpieces to their original slendour and efficiency. This will be done in a special workshop, within the factory at Sant'Agata, that will benefit not only from the competence of extremely skilled workers but also by the support of a spare parts warehouse, well stocked with parts of the vintage cars. If some part is not available they will be able to make it thanks to the archives where the original drawings and specifications are kept.

This initiative of Lamborghini is of the utmost importance to preserve heritage of paramount importance for the history of its supercars and to give to the Lamborghini owners the pleasure of bringing back their treasures to the road, not keeping them locked in a garage afraid of mechanical failure or small accidents requiring difficult repairs and bodywork.

Lamborghini's Factory Restoration Centre, that will open soon, will add value to its vintage cars because a supercar restored in Sant'Agata will be certified as fully original and fully functional by the factory which built it. The best possible guarantee one can have.
