The Last Miura Surfaces Down Under
The last Miura produced by the Lamborghini factory in 1973 (12th October) has surfaced 'Down Under' owned by Australian premier Lamborghini enthusiast, David Chidlow. Chassis number 4822 was ordered in RHD specification via Lamborghini Great Britain by its first owner, an Italian resident in South Africa.
Finished in 'Bianco' (white) paint with 'Nera' (black) leather, 4822 features the highest engine number (30759) in accordance with its 'last' status, and is listed on the factory's own 1974 production register as having the final production date. The car was ordered by the first owner on February 15th 1973, and as was typical of the handful of SVs built in 1973, production was a slow affair as the factory turned its attention to the development of the new Countach and brought Miura production to a close.
The Italian owner had to return to his native Sicily to attend to family business in 1975, and 4822 was sold to its second South Africaan owner who kept it untill selling to Chidlow in 2003.
As of May 2005, 4822 is halfway into a full restoration and should be completed by early 2006.
