LAMBORGHINI MARINE ENGINES ARE THE 2002 CLASS 1 WORLD OFFSHORE CHAMPIONS

Following the success at Dubai's Grand Prix last October 18th, Lamborghini's official powerboat Spirit of Norway 10 clinches World and European titles in the UIM Class 1 World Offshore Championship, which took off on June 15th in Trieste's waters. It acquired 131points in the 8 competitions held in Italy, Germany, England, Norway, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates and preceded Victory 7 (120 points), also powered by Lamborghini's 12-cylinder which was developed directly in the U.A.E. With a total of 147 points, Spirit of Norway 10 has also won the World Time Trial Championship (pole position) preceding Victory 7 (118 points) and Victory 1 (102 points).

This year's victory takes Motori Marini Lamborghini to a total of 5 world champion titles: in 1994, 1997, 1998, 2001 and 2002.

The excellent quality and development of Lamborghini's engines enabled us to face 8 races with a duration of about one and a half hours each and 8 "pole positions" of about 20 minutes each maintaining high performance with no engine failure. Lamborghini's 950 hp engine also obtained very good results against the more powerful rivals Detroit and Seatek diesel engines.

Special thanks go to Lamborghini's technical sponsors in the UIM 2002 Class World Offshore Championship: AGIP Petroli, Tubi Style for the exhaust systems, Lino Orefice for the sportswear and Pirelli for the footwear.
