5096 & Gary Bobileff

Gary S. Bobileff

Gary S. Bobileff is unquestionably the world's leading Lamborghini Miura restorer, with several examples of the seminal sportscar in various stages of restoration at his state-of-the-art restoration facility at any given time. But, it was working with Ferraris that gave Gary his start in the business all those years ago.

In 1969, Bobileff enrolled as a mechanic with the famed Luigi Chinetti Motors, based in Greenwich, Connecticut. The experience with Chinetti and his operations with the North American Racing Team (NART) formed a lasting impression on the young Bobileff, and in 1972 he left to start his own Ferrari service facility locally.

In 1976, a move to California ensued, to manage a well-known Ferrari service facility, and finally in 1979, Gary formed Bobileff Motorcar Co, a full service and restoration facility for Lamborghini, Maserati & Ferrari, which he has run to this day.

In September of 2005, Gary finished restoration of Miura SV "5096", a project car so far deteriorated, many would not even have attempted. "5096" is symbolic of the 'rescue' work that Bobileff is carrying out with many old & tired Miuras that come into his workshops. What Bobileff delivers is essentially a "new" Lamborghini, with all components within the vehicle completely restored to Pebble Beach standards. SVs seem to be favored where total restorations are concerned, and the list of epic restorations completed by Bobileff Motorcar Co. grows longer with time - 4870, 4926, 5064, 5096, etc, with other SVs such as 5076 and 4968 still in progress.

As they say, 'practice makes perfect', and this Miura Maven has certainly had more practice than any other with the famed cars from Santa Agata Bolognese.
