The LM002 was pretty much the final version of the Cheetah program to ever be sold to the public. The LM003 and LM004 being experiments with various engines that were eventually abandoned.
Only 300 of these LM002 monster machines were officially built during its production run plus a 301st LM built from spares around 1993 (long after production had ceased) for a wealthy UK client wishing a RHD version.
A limited edition of 60 cars in the series were named LM/American and were introduced at the 1990 Detroit Auto Show. The LM/American had special baging, stripes, upgraded interior, ground effects styled side skirts, chrome front and rear bumpers and MSW/OZ Racing alloy wheels.
